Evolving in Africa

AldrichPears Associates worked with Studio Hanson/Roberts to create an immersive African interpretive experience for the Odense Zoo in Denmark. The goal was to provide visitors with a better understanding of African habitats and how animals – and people – have adapted to them.

The first phase was to develop a preliminary design for the entire African experience and all interpretation for the Aviary habitat. The larger design challenge was to develop interpretation that is seasonal and can be removed from the "plains" area during the winter, when the animals return to their permanent winter quarters. All interpretation is delivered in three languages – Danish, German and English.
